Philosophy

As an Early Childhood Educator, it is my goal to enhance emergent readers literary experiences in order for them to become successful readers and writers as well as life-long learners. With that being said, it is my passion to collect children's literature as well as to search for those certain props needed for just about every story I read. By using these props, along with the books, the children are much more engaged and motivated while building their comprehension and vocabulary skills.

The students in my class are very diverse and many children are acquiring a second language. At times, children can display certain levels of anxiety when using extended discourse. By using a plethora of literacy props it not only arouses the student but encourages them to build confidence and supports language and literacy.

I intend to make books exciting so that my students can grow to value reading and will have meaningful literacy based experiences. I have created a classroom lending library so that children may have quality literature in their homes to enjoy with their families. As one of my professional mentors had once said to me, Always share the good books.
